I am Losang, a foreigner who has lived among the people of the Tibetan Plateau for the past 10 years and call this area home, though I am originally from the Pacific Northwest area of the US. I have been fortunate enough to travel over 300,000 kms overland across Tibet spending much of that time in the remote nomadic areas. I am married and have 2 young boys.

I have lived on the Tibetan Plateau since early 2002. I have studied both Chinese and Tibetan at universities in Tibet and worked for a non-government organization (NGO) for several years in the Tibetan adult education department. I have done numerous projects across Tibet including medical fund raising, purchasing yaks for poor herders and delivering new winter clothes to over 350 nomad children.

I have done research on Tibet for the Discovery Channel, BBC and Animal Planet and have been a corespondent for Lonely Planet, Fodor’s, DK China and Frommer’s travel guides. I also spent 4 years arranging custom tours of Tibet and the greater Himalaya region. I enjoy photography and have had pictures from Tibet published in books and magazines across the globe.
